TEXAS DWI SURCHARGES
Under the surcharge program, DWI offenses carry the biggest fines– $1,000 a year for three years on the first conviction and $2,000 a year if the blood alcohol content is twice the legal limit. Driving without car insurance or an invalid license costs $250 a year for three years. Surcharges must be paid in addition to regular fines a driver gets for those violations.
