TexasSure is an insurance verification system that was implemented by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles in October 2008. This allows local law enforcement and county tax officials to quickly and easily verify liability coverage on a vehicle. The purpose of this initiative is to help reduce the number of uninsured vehicles on the road through a database integrated with various state departments and insurance companies. This initiative truly benefits the public as it will cut down the use of counterfeit insurance identification cards and drivers cancelling coverage after renewing their vehicle registration.
In November 2009 TexasSure started reaching out to Insureds directly via mail if they are unable to match the Insureds policy information with their vehicle registration records. Although less than 1% of insurance policies do not match the Texas records, your Insurance Agent and Insurance Company should be prepared to answer your questions regarding the letter. If you receive one of these notices contact your Agent or Insurance Company. It typically means that there was an error on the policy and the Vehicle Identification Number must be corrected. Please click http://www.texassure.com/documents/Unmatched_SAMPLE.pdf to view a sample copy of the letter. Also be sure to visit www.TexasSure.com for more information on the Texas Vehicle Insurance Verification System.
